Overview – The city of Bologna is going to build their first-ever Tram line. Algo is joining their communication strategy by creating videos that will help them keep citizens informed about works, events & the enhanced mobility.

In partnership with the agency Homina, we’re using Algo to build a video communication strategy and make sure the Bologna citizens are aware of construction sites, traffic updates, and the benefits that an electric tram line can bring to their city.

The design started from the brand elements, while getting inspiration from the beautiful city of Bologna: ① the colour palette is inspired by the city earthy tones ② the library of animated shapes in the branding comes from the famous “portici” (porches) of Bologna ③ a tailored icon set we created for the maps.

The first modules of the template are focused on providing a clear and straight-forward communication: the Big text & Big Number modules are an easy way to share info that needs to be simple and direct.

Since we’re sharing data about construction work around the city and how it impacts traffic, it was important to create a Map module. Integrating Mapbox’s API in our dashboard, the client can input addresses to create an animated map showing road closures and all the bus lines impacted.

Images play an important part in this template as they’re used to illustrate the outcome of the works. The Photo and Event modules can be used to give an extra layer of visual information. Images are often integrated into the same brand shapes, for coherence.

This project will run for 3 years, covering all stages of the Tram line development. The template is optimized with the aspect ratios that work best for social media (1:1, 16:9 & 9:16), and will be shared to the city’s official channels.
